More Details about the walk
Start Time: 7 pm
Finish Time: Around 9:15 pm – We will stop a couple of times for a drink and light snack
Distance: 4 miles
Ascent/Descent: 750 ft
Stiles: 9
Terrain: On good paths apart from one section – see “Route”
Other: We pass through 2 fields with cows and have 3 roads to cross. Walking poles would be useful on a couple of steep descents.
Parking
The Norfolk Arms would like us to fill up any spaces in the parking area directly opposite the pub. Only when that area is full should we use their car park.
Route
From The Norfolk Arms we take the steep descent down Jacobs Ladder (a grassy slope) to meet the Porter Brook. We follow the Porter Brook all the way to Forge Dam but just after passing the cafe we turn off the main route and head back to Ringinglow Road. After crossing the road we use field paths to reach the Limb Valley. The footpaths in this section are a little overgrown and have two awkward stiles. The descent into the Limb Valley through woodlands is steep and although there are good steps at the top when these run out it could be slippy in wet conditions.
The last part of the walk takes us along the Limb valley eventually joining Sheephill Lane which takes us back to The Norfolk Arms.
