Troway and The Moss Valley (13th September 2025)

Twenty one people and two dogs met outside the Swan Inn at Ridgeway ready for Graham’s walk in the Moss Valley. The first part of the walk took us down the main road to “99 steps”. We didn’t bother counting, we’ll just take Graham’s word for it. This lead us onto Sloade Lane and into Ryall’s Wood. On exiting the wood it was a climb up to Povey Farm.

We followed the main track down to a ford in the valley bottom before striking off on an uphill path to Troway Hall Farm Cafe. As it was only just past breakfast time most of indulged in something sweet and a coffee or tea rather than one of their famous meat pies. It was then a downhill stretch, following Doe Lane all the way to Geer Lane.

The route back was through open fields, walking parallel to Ryall’s Wood and Carterhall Wood, turning right onto Robinbrook Lane. This was a lovely path that took us all the way back to Ridgeway.

By this time the predicted shower had hit us but we were almost back to our start point. To finish off, a few of us popped into the Swan for lunch.

Many thanks to Graham for leading us round, we all agreed it was a lovely walk in a part of the Moss Valley that we don’t walk too often.
