Nineteen walkers and one dog met in the Sands car park in Low Bradfield on a pleasant morning. Nineteen was a good turnout because it’s a decent drive from Dronfield.
We set off along quiet roads steadily uphill towards Foxholes. Foxholes (specifically Foxholes Farm) is a 19th century farm featuring holiday cottages, and wedding venue and a grade II listed castellated folly. And incase you’re wondering this is where the name of this walk comes from. Foxholes is also a good place to stop and admire the stunning views.
We continued on to Dunworth which is well known these days for the farm shop and ice cream parlour “Our Cow Molly”. For any Blades out there it is also the birthplace of Cec Coldwell who played for United and later was a coach. There is also a Dronfield connection because United signed Cec from Norton Woodseates.
Anyway, back to the walk which passed through Stacey Bank and then followed a lovely waterside path back to Low Bradfield. After the walk we called in at Our Cow Molly for an ice cream from the vending machine. The lemon and ginger flavour was a big hit.
