Frith Wood and Summerley (16th July 2026)

For most walks our attendance is in the high teens, so it was no surprise that on a very warm and pleasant evening seventeen walkers and one dog turned up. However, I was delighted to see that five of the group hadn’t walked with us before.

The walk is a tried and tested route that passes through Frith Wood and continues on Callywhite Lane to Metapic wood. We had a 15 minute stop here and were treated to a talk about how the wood was founded.

The next stretch of the walk is steady uphill to Summerley and then through fields, known locally as The Riddings. From that point the route follows the original path taken back to Coal Aston Village Hall. After the walk some of the group enjoyed a drink in the Royal Oak pub.

Thanks very much to all who attended
