Twenty six walkers and one dog met in the main car park at Chatsworth. Parking is free until the 19th March so the walk had been well planned.
Our first target for the walk was the Hunting Tower. Most of the group followed the meandering road which takes some of the pain away, although four hardy souls did take the direct route up the steps. After a brief stop to admire the views from the tower we followed the main track in the direction of Beeley passing the Emperor Lake and then the Swiss Lake. The Swiss Lake is now full of water and looked splendid.
Just before we crossed over to the open access land we had our main break, it was then into the Rabbit Warren taking a track on the left down to Beeley. Our route back to the house was along the river Derwent which is always lovely.
On reaching our destination we thanked Ann and Hillary for leading us on a great walk in nice weather. As the stables cafe was open a small group of use decided to give it a try – very nice.
