Fifteen walkers met outside the Revolution House ready for Dave’s walk. You can find out more about Revolution House and its role in overthrowing King James II by clicking this link.

Revolution House is temporarily closed.
Revolution House is an important piece of our borough’s history, and we are seeking to work with a suitable community partner who can help ensure this history is celebrated and that this asset can benefit both the local community and visitors. More information will be shared as soon as possible and in the meantime, members of the public are not permitted to enter the site.
After passing by the impressive St Bartholomew’s church we climbed steadily up to Grasscroft wood where we had a brief drinks stop. We continued on through fields to another wood, unnamed on O/S maps, to almost reach Long Lane. Rather than walk along the road we took a diversion into Stubbing Wood, emerging from the wood opposite the turning to West Handley. Following a short stretch on the pavement we passed by an interesting property with a huge array of wooden sculptures of animals. Continuing on through fields we reached the hamlet Nether Handley where we followed an enclosed path all the way to Parkhouse Farm.
We were now on the outskirts of New Whittington which we navigated via Brearley Park. The last stretch of the walk took us along High Street until we diverted on a path taking us back up to St Bartholomew’s church. We then retraced our steps back to Revolution House.
Many thanks to Dave for leading us on a very interesting walk.
