Hazlebarrow Farm and Norton Circular (Tue 13th October)

Our walk leaders, Richard and Phoebe have previously lead linear walks that finished at St James’ church in Norton but this one was different in that the stop at St James’ was the halfway point on a circular walk.

25 people and one dog set off from Coal Aston village hall starting out across fields through Nor wood and then into Long wood. At this point we turned off left to enter Coal Pit wood. As many of you will know from Graham’s walks, Coal pit wood marks the start of the river Moss. We reached the turning towards Norton via green, traffic free routes through Jordanthorpe and reached the church just before 11:00, which was perfect timing for our mid-morning break. As ever the cakes were lovely and we were made to feel very welcome.

Our route back to Coal Aston was a little more direct, crossing over Bochum Parkway to Hazelbarrow Farm and then back to the village hall via a section of the Dronfield Round Walk.

Many thanks to Richard and Phoebe for leading us on a smashing walk with the added bonus of home made cakes.
