Seventeen walkers and one dog met in the Holmesfield Village Hall car park in readiness for Adrian’s walk. We set off through Holmesfield Wood turning right at the end of the woods towards Woodthorpe Hall. We took the field to the left of the hall and descended to Gillfield Wood.
After walking through the woods for a while we took the uphill path through fields back to Fanshaw Gate Lane. We crossed the lane and continued up to the main road through Holmesfield and an area known as Lydgate. After breaking for coffee we descended to Horsleygate, passing through the caravan site to a junction where we met another group of walkers.
We didn’t descend all the way to Millthorpe but turned left across the fields to meet an enclosed path. The path took us back to Horsleygate Lane close to its junction with the main road. From here it was a short hop back to the car park.
