Thirteen walkers and one dog met at the bandstand in the village of Ashford in the Water ready for Vanessa and David’s walk.
We started out by walking mainly uphill out of the village and across fields to join the Monsall Trail. Within a few minutes we passed by Thornbridge Hall and continued on to Hassop Station where we stopped for our coffee break. Feeling suitably refreshed we continued on the Monsall Trail, passing the old Bakewell station to the very end of the trail. At this point we took the steps to join Coombs Road heading for Bakewell. We left Coombs Road to take a path through the showground to a lovely spot on the riverside where we had lunch. As usual we were greeted by all manner of wildfowl who were very interested in our sandwiches.
The route back to Ashford followed the river Wye. Many thanks to Vanessa and David for leading us round this fantastic walk.
