As cool, misty Autumn days arrive and long summer evenings fall away we said goodbye to our Thursday evening walks. (hang on a minute it’s 27 degrees today!)
This walk should really be called the “Pie and Peas” walk which, for the last few years has been held at Troway Hall Farm (aka Wards of Troway).
Thirty three walkers and two dogs did the usual 3 mile walk prior to the meal taking us down Doe Lane, onto Geerlane Farm and then to Birleyhay. The way back was vie the Mill Pond, Fold Farm and the road back up to our start point. The mood on the walk was good with everyone looking forward to their meal.
The meals on offer were the traditional pie and peas, burgers and lasagne and as ever the quality was excellent. Before the meal we did one of John’s traditional quizzes. This time the theme was cockney rhyming slang. Despite a lack of people from south of the Watford gap we faired surprisingly well.
Many thanks to Graham who has organised this event for many years now, to John for another of his excellent quizzes and to the staff at the farm for looking after us so well. Same time next year?
