Cartledge and Barlow Woodseats (31st July 2025)

Twenty two walkers met at the bottom of Millthorpe Lane ready for a four mile walk led by Graham.

The first part of the walk took us back up Millthorpe Lane but as the road straightened we took one of those unusual right of ways that passes directly through someone’s garden. Luckily they weren’t enjoying a party or BBQ in the garden on this occasion. Before reaching Cartledge we took a path on the right through the area known as Black Car Lumb, eventually meeting with Highlightley Lane. Crossing straight over the road we walked through more fields before reaching Far Lane.

After passing Allen Wood we took a right turn towards Barlow Woodseats Hall. This is a very interesting place which is now a restaurant and wedding venue. We even managed to spot one of the famous peacocks.

Continuing on through Johnnygate we crossed over the ford, arriving back at our cars. This was a lovely walk in an area we don’t cover very often. Many thanks to Graham for leading us.
