With temperatures touching 26 degrees, the slightest of breezes was most welcome as twelve walkers gathered outside St Peter’s church in Edensor.
Before we started Phoebe gave us a brief history of the village and the long list of Dukes who had occupied Chatsworth.
We started with a bit of a climb up to the benches at the top of the hill and had a drinks stop there before carrying on through the wood and the field where the Russian cottage is located. We then followed the road leading all the way to the garden centre where we crossed the road and followed the river Derwent all the way back to the house. It was then just a short uphill section to Edensor.
Many thanks to Richard for leading the walk and to Phoebe for her historical notes. We all agreed it had been a lovely walk.
