Fourteen walkers met at Coal Aston Village Hall on a glorious morning. We all got lifts to Cowley Mission in 4 cars and walked along Cowley Lane to the turning where we left the first part of the round walk on Saturday.
We walked across fields to Cartledge Hall. This section of the walk included one of the metal squeeze stiles with chains. I have only ever seen them in this part of Dronfield but others thought their use was a little more widespread. From Cartledge we made our way up to Holmesfield and into the woods. We stopped at the large table for our lunch break which was a great location that gave us a little shade.
We crossed a ploughed field on our way to Moorview farm and then did a short section on pavements to reach Barnes Lane. This was a good opportunity to check the condition of this track before our annual vegetation cut-back at the end of May. We followed the path all the way to the edge of the Dore and Totley golf course where it meets the track coming up from Bowshaw.
As we crossed the main road we got a close up of the fair on the car-boot fields. It was then on to Pighills Lane and the short road section back to the Village Hall.
This was a very enjoyable walk done in superb weather. Many thanks to Joe for leading us round.
