Cutthorpe and Linacre Reservoirs (Saturday 5th April)

Sixteen walkers and one dog met outside the old methodist chapel on Millcross Lane in Barlow. In keeping with recent days it was chilly but bright with the prospect of temperatures rising later in the day.

We started out walking up Commonside Road and then talking the footpath on the left just after the road slip. The path took us to Wilkin Hill where we crossed over the road passing Newgate farm. Walking through fields and on some quiet country lanes we reached the main road through Cutthorpe next to the old Gate Inn pub.

After crossing three more fields we entered the woods adjacent to the middle of the three reservoirs at Linacre. We stopped at the picnic benches to enjoy a hot drink and snack. We continued on, passing through Kitchenflat Wood before we once again crossed the main Cutthorpe Road close the Peacock pub.

We made our way back to the start via the pinfold on Wilkin Hill and the path that runs at the back of Rutland Terrace.

As we approached our cars we all agreed that it had been a wonderful walk with lovely views. Thanks to Dave for devising the walk and for leading us round.
