Here’s what Graham had to say about Saturday’s glorious walk
Today’s walk saw Barry Burwood and Chris Bygrave lead a party of 28 from Redmires Plantation Car Park on a 5 1/2 mile route taking in Hallam Moors and Stanage Edge. The beautifully sunny day attracted lots of other folk out for a walk, and we had a bit of a job squeezing everyone into the car park.
Starting out back along Long Causeway we then turned left to walk alongside the Redmires Conduit which feeds into the top reservoir. After a short distance we spotted several Curlews in a field on the left before continuing on towards the balancing pond and derelict waterworks at Rivelin Brook.

Our coffee stop was taken at Oaking Clough Plantation with stunning views back towards Sheffield. We then made our way across the moor towards Stanage Edge following a path alongside a line of Grouse Butts.
We then turned left at a stone shelter and came onto Stanage Edge close to High Neb, more fabulous views from here, overlooking Dennis Knoll and beyond towards the Hope Valley. Continuing along the edge for about a mile we then took a well surfaced track up a gentle rise to The Stanage Pole. This lies on the boundary between Yorkshire and Derbyshire and was also the ancient boundary between Mercia and Northumbria.

After a brief water stop and group photo it was a gentle downhill walk to the top reservoir and along the road back to the car park.

A lovely walk with beautiful weather and stunning views throughout. Barry and Chris were thanked by everyone for devising and leading us on this one.
