Longshaw and Padley Gorge (11th February 2025)

Sixteen walkers and one dog met in Longshaw’s Woodcroft car park on an overcast and chilly morning. After our leader, Richard had given us an introduction to the walk we set off through the estate passing the pond on our way.

We carried on down Padley Gorge with its gnarly trees and atmospheric vibes, avoiding a steep and slippy section by following the road. When we reached a point roughly level with Grindleford station we crossed the B6521 and walked up Tegness Road which led us in to Hay Wood.

On reaching the A625 we took a concessionary path that led us all the way back to the cafe at Longshaw. This was a good opportunity for some of the party to dry out and indulge in coffee and cakes.

Many thanks to Richard for leading the walk and to Phoebe for back marking.
