Here’s what Graham had to say about Ted’s walk in Holmebrook Valley and Cutthorpe
Today’s walk saw Ted Bennett lead a party of twenty DFBS members, five new faces and two dogs on a 5 mile walk around Cutthorpe and Holmebrook Valley Park.
Starting out from the HVP top car park we walked down the wide track on the right and did a clockwise circuit of the lake and saw two Great Crested Grebes and four Goosanders out on the water along with lots of Mallards and Gulls. We then took a path though woodland towards Hall Farm and headed for Cutthorpe. Along the way we passed the “New” 1675 and “Old” 1625 Cutthorpe Halls where I gave a brief history on these Grade 2 listed properties. We then stopped at the Coronation Tree and Village Institute for a group photo before we had our coffee stop at the Cricket Ground.
We then continued down the main road and re-entered Holmebrook Valley Park where we completed a two mile loop on easy walking paths before arriving back at the car park shortly before 1.00pm. Ted was thanked by all the walkers for a lovely and interesting walk.
