Not Really a Pub Crawl (12th October 2024)

It’s time that I answered the question that has been on everyones minds for a long time, Is Richard’s annual walk a walk where we just happen to visit a couple of pubs or more of a crawl between pubs where we have to do a bit of walking to get from one pub to the next? Well, the answer is, it can be what ever you want it to be.

Yesterday, twenty one people started out from the long lay-by. We all stopped at Wards Troway Hall Farm Cafe for drinks and various sweet or savoury snacks. After tackling Nettle Alley and an often muddy bridleway we reached the Traveller’s Rest “The Travs”. At this point the group split, with half opting to return to their cars by taking the direct route across the fields and the other half happy to visit the pub.

On leaving the pub we were now a relatively small group of eight. We walked down the main road from Apperknowle to Unstone where, almost back at the start, five of us called in at the Drone Valley Brewery for futher refreshments.

So there we have it. Thanks to Richard for leading a great walk, long may it continue.
