Ford and Troway Circular (11th June 2024)

Today’s walk saw Elaine Marsh lead a party of 19 members from the Fox and Hounds pub at Marsh Lane on a four and a half mile walk in the Moss Valley.

It was cool and cloudy as we set off down Ford Lane and turned right and passed Habberjam Farm before descending to the River Moss where we crossed the footbridge on the left.  We then passed Never fear Dam and followed the path to the car park next to the Bridge Inn at Ford which is where we had our coffee stop. We continued by Ford Farm and crossed the road onto Geer Lane and then left to Birleyhay where there were a pair of Black Swans with five cygnets and a Grey Heron on the pond.

It had started to warm up as we made our way up the fields towards Troway so off came the coats and other layers.   We continued past Fold Farm to the road and turned left and through Greenside and up Quarry Hill to a bridleway on the left.  We followed this to pass Score House and then right onto Ford Lane again. This took us back to Marsh Lane and the Fox and Hounds car park where Elaine was thanked by all for a really nice walk. The rain that had been forecast earlier in the morning thankfully held off
