Holmesfield Circular (16th May 2024)

Owing to a heavy downpour just before the walk was due to start, only a small group of six walkers met outside the co-op for the second of our Thursday evening walks.

To begin the walk we took the path that runs alongside Gosforth Fields all the way to Carr Lane. We then joined Barnes Lane and followed the route of the Dronfield Hall Barn Rotary Walk for the next section of the walk. This took us along Rod Moor Road, through the farm and across the fields to Holmesfield Woods. Paula had checked that there wouldn’t be any cows in the fields, so no worries there.

Continuing along the Rotary Walk Route we passed through Holmesfield Woods, stopping at the giant table for a short break. At the end of the woods the track turns into Park Avenue which meets up with Main Road. (I know my English isn’t great but I didn’t miss out a “the”, the main road really is called Main Road.) Our return leg of the walk took us through fields to Cartledge, across Cowley Lane and through Kitchen Wood.

We were now almost back to our start point having avoided any rain.

Many thanks to Paula for leading us. It’s always nice to meet one or more of Paula’s dogs, this time it was Fate.
