Barnes Lane Loop (9th May 2024)

Twenty three walkers and a four legged friend met at the Dronfield Woodhouse Sports and Social club in readiness for our first Thursday evening walk of the year. The weather was ideal for walking and there wasn’t a waterproof in sight.

We headed off across the playing field and worked our way through the estate to Barnes Lane. We then followed the route of the Dronfield Barn Round Walk until we met the road that comes up from Bowshaw. This was particularly useful because it gave us an indication of which parts of the path we will need to cut-back as part of our annual tidy up session in just a few weeks time.

We then worked our way through the golf course, paying close attention to any flying golf balls heading in our direction, but rather than continue on towards the club house we turned back on ourselves and took the path leading back to Barnes Lane. At the point where we re-joined our original route we stopped for a coffee break and the customary group photo.

The last part of the walk took us on a slightly different route through the estate and back to the car park.

We all agreed it was a fabulous way to kick start our evening walks. Many thanks to Vanessa and David for leading us round.
