Route

Curbar Gap, Wellington’s Monument, the Eagle Stone and White Edge.

This walk difficulty is between moderate and strenuous. It is on good paths although some may be wet and boggy in places (depending on weather) but are passable. There are a few gates but no stiles. Highland  cattle are in the area near Wellington’s Monument.

Notes

Some notes from the walk leaders following a recent recce.

It proved to be 7 miles and a little harder than moderate but certainly not strenuous. We walked down Fox Lane, crossed the main Baslow Road and made our way to Wellington’s Monument then there is a choice to walk along Baslow Edge or slightly inland of same to avoid the rocky path. We then cross the road to Curbar to have a coffee break just behind the car park. We walk so far along Curbar Edge until we turn right to cross a large expanse of moorland with some boggy patches and narrow paths in part and return to walk back up Fox Lane to the cars. The views throughout are well worth the effort and there is abundant wildlife and flowers to look out for.
