Seven walkers met at the Wesleyan Reform Chapel in Coal Aston. With light rain falling and an unpromising weather forecast it was no surprise that numbers were slightly lower than expected.
Adrian, our leader, told us that he had shortened the walk to avoid the worst of the mud but we were all happy to get out in the fresh air. The first part of the walk took us through Nor Wood and Long Wood and we had our coffee break just above the pasture land of Dowey Lumb. Rather than going down the steep field, we took the gently descending route to the bridge crossing the Moss and up the steps to the rotary bench. We paused here briefly to admire the views which were starting to appear as the rain petered out. Here we turned right to join Owler Carr Lane which we followed all the way to Eckington Road. It was then a straightforward return to the chapel via The Ridgeway and Drury Lane.
Many thanks to Adrian for leading the walk and to the ladies who opened up the chapel to provide us with coffee and hot cross buns.
