Fifteen of us gathered in the main car park at Chatsworth in readiness for a walk in the Chatsworth estate. The car parking is free for the period when the house is closed and it’s not in the school holidays.
We started the walk by taking the meandering track up to the hunting tower. After a short break to admire the views we carried on past the Emperor lake and the Swiss Lake (now empty). We continued on the main track through the woods until we reached the perimeter wall. With a good selection of fallen trees to perch on we had a coffee stop.
Shortly after leaving the woods we turned off the main path and took a track towards Beeley Hilltop and then down to Beeley Lodge which is on the main road that cuts through Chatsworth. From here we followed the river Derwent back to house.

Many thanks to Hilary and Anne for leading us on this very enjoyable walk in the lovely Chatsworth grounds.
