Eighteen walkers met in the main car park at Longshaw on a bitterly cold day. The ground was covered with a dusting of snow but the forecast predicted brighter conditions by 11 am.
The first part of the walk took us through the immediate grounds of Longshaw, past the pond and into Padley Gorge. Underfoot conditions were tricky owing to the snow covering up patches of ice. We stopped just before Grindleford station for a coffee, making good use of the fallen trees as makeshift seating. From here we climbed up to the main road running into Grindleford and took the steep path on the other side of the road. On reaching the top of the hill we took the track that runs parallel to the stream before re-joining our initial route in the Longshaw grounds.
Thanks very much to Richard and Sue for leading us on the walk.
