Nineteen walkers met at the Ford Wheel Dam car park in the hope that overnight frost would crisp up any mud that they might come across.
The first part of the walk took us to Carterhall via Birleyhay and Sloadlane. Many of us hadn’t walked on these paths before so it was great to add to our repertoire of footpaths. After crossing White Lane we passed through Birley Wood golf course before re-joining the road for a short time. The route back to the car park was mainly down hill from here, through Plumbley and along the river. Towards the end of the walk we passed a shooting party, with dogs and beaters so we didn’t hang around too long!
