Twenty walkers and 3 dogs gathered outside Pentland Road Shops on New Year’s Eve for Paula’s 6.5 mile figure of eight walk.
The first part of the walk took us through Kitchen Wood and then on to Cowley Lane. After a short stretch on the road we turned right towards Peakley Hill and on to Lees Plantation, taking a track that runs on the hillside parallel to the Barlow Fishing Ponds. We were now about half way through our walk so a stop at the Lakeside Cafe was perfect. The cafe was busy so most people opted for cake and hot chocolate rather than a full cooked breakfast. The second half of the walk took us back to our start point via Monk Wood, Lees Wood and Telly Tubby Hill. Thanks to Paul for pointing out Telly Tubby Hill to me as I’m from t’other side of the valley so wasn’t aware of its exact location.
