Holmesfield Circular (27th December 2023)

Despite the poor weather forecast for the day, six eager members of the group and two fairly eager collies, met at Pentland Road Shops for Paula’s walk.

With possible wet weather in mind, Paula had selected a walk on pavements, quiet lanes and tarmac tracks, the only muddy section being the first section of the walk which took us along Barnes Lane . After emerging onto Rod Moor Road we carried on to Tinkers Corner where we took a left turn down Totley Lane. From here it was mainly downhill towards the Shepley Spitfire. Before reaching the pub we turned off onto a path going uphill to Woodthorpe Hall. By this time the rain was very light and the shelter of Holmesfield Woods provided an excellent spot for our coffee stop.

The route back to our start point was via Cowley Lane, Kitchen wood and Sindelfingen Park. Everyone enjoyed the walk and felt happy that they had blown away the cobwebs. Thanks to Paula for choosing and leading us on this walk.
