Eleven walkers met at Cowley Mission on a grey Tuesday morning. The leaders, Steve and Ros had warned us to expect water and mud so we were fully geared up with poles, gaiters and over-trousers.
In the first part of the hike we walked mainly through fields and quiet country lanes towards Barlow fishing ponds. Here we were warmly greeted by the owner of the cafe and several of us enjoyed mugs of warming hot chocolate. We were sheltered from the rain which had become heavy and persistent. By the time we gathered ourselves and re-started our journey the rain had almost stopped.
The second half of the walk took us through Monk Wood and then through fields back to Cowley Mission. It was a very enjoyable walk.
Many thanks to Steve and Ros for leading the walk.
