Nineteen walkers gathered at the end of Half Acre lane on a pleasant Thursday evening. It’s always nice to get the uphill out of the way early on, which is exactly what we did, climbing gradually up to Ouzel bank where we stopped to admire the extensive views. After taking the track alongside the wood we then joined one of the new footpaths created as part of the Peak Resort development. This is an excellent all weather track which took us all the way down to the main road through Unstone.
We crossed the road and now heading back towards Dronfield we picked up the path running alongside the river. Just before entering Ramshaw wood we passed the viaduct which never fails to impress me. After navigating the tracks through the wood we made our way to the Unstone community centre and then onto the Unstone Line. Rather than continuing on this track we took the lower path that runs alongside the Drone Valley brewery that led us back to our start point.
Thanks very much to Adrian for leading us on this very enjoyable 4 mile walk.
