Bradway, Woodthorpe Hall and Cartledge (9th May 2023)

Eighteen of us and one canine friend gathered at Pentland Road shops on a warm sunny morning. The forecast mentioned the possibility of showers but as it happens they didn’t come.

The first part of the walk took us along Barnes lane where a passing dog walker warned us about mud. Not to be deterred we picked our way around the worst patches, reaching our goal of Rod Moor Road relatively unscathed. After a short stretch on the pavement we picked up a path that skirted New Totley and then followed Totley Brooke. At this stage of the walk we girded our loins in preparation for the uphill climb to Holmesfield.

The last part of the walk took us through the housing estate at Holmesfield and back to Dronfield via Kitchen Wood, where we stopped briefly to admire the Bluebells. With our destination in sight some of the group broke away to take a more direct route home.

Many thanks to David Blackburn for a very enjoyable walk.

Here are a view snaps taken towards the end of the walk.
