New book by David Blackburn

As many of you will know, long time member of the DF&BS, David Blackburn has been busy over the last few years devising and writing up a book of walks along the Chesterfield Canal. Although it has taken a little longer than David anticipated, the book is finished and on sale. Here’s what David has to say about it.

The book has 72 pages and contains 25 different walks, covering North Derbyshire , South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. There are descriptions , points of interest , maps and pictures and  it’s designed so that anyone completing all the walks will also have walked the full 46 miles of the canal. Many of our members enjoy walks on the canal and I hope the book will help and encourage them to try out walks in different locations. A couple of pages are attached to give a flavour of the book.

We are just starting getting sales points and at this early stage it’s available at the Canal Shop at Hollingwood hub and  Tapton Lock visitor centre. Other locations ,including Chesterfield Visitor Centre and hopefully somewhere in Dronfield, should come on-stream early in the new year. It costs £10, with all profits going towards our restoration projects .It can also be bought through the Canal Trust online shop at www.chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk. I shall be happy to deliver in the Dronfield area (canalmilestones@hotmail.com  or 01246 417984)
